Why We Need A Privacy Policy
Information We Collect
- Personal information you provide, such as name, email address, or other contact details when you contact us or sign up for newsletters.
- Automatically collected data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring pages, exit pages, and click data. This helps us improve the site and understand performance.
- Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies used to remember preferences, analyze traffic, and track affiliate referrals when applicable.
Cookies And Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, and collect analytics. Some technologies are provided by third parties, including advertising and affiliate partners.
Amazon tools, including oneTag where used, may set cookies and process certain data for attribution and reporting of referral activity.
If you are in the EU or EEA, you may see a cookie banner asking for consent where required by law. You can also use browser settings to manage cookies and tracking.

How We Use Your Information
- To operate, maintain, and improve SmartHouseGears.
- To respond to inquiries and provide support.
- To send occasional updates or newsletters when you opt in.
- To analyze usage and performance through analytics and aggregated reporting.
- To attribute affiliate referrals so commissions can be recorded where applicable.
Amazon Associates And Affiliate Links
SmartHouseGears is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program (Amazon.com) and in the Amazon Associates Program operated by Amazon Seller Services Private Limited (Amazon.in). These are two separate affiliate advertising programs designed to provide a way for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon marketplaces.
When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, Amazon may place a cookie on your browser to attribute the referral. We do not have access to your Amazon account, payment details, or purchase history. We only see aggregate reporting data about clicks and conversions provided by Amazon.
The price you pay is not increased by our participation in affiliate programs. Commissions are paid by the merchant, not by you.
Certain product data, images and text that appear on this site come from Amazon through the Product Advertising API or Creators API. That content is provided "as is" and is subject to change or removal at any time.
Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, CCPA, DPDP)
If you are located in California, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, the right to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination. We do not sell personal information for money.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and the right to object to processing or withdraw consent.
If you are located in India, you have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), including the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data, and the right to grievance redressal.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the contact page. We will respond within the time period required by the law that applies to you.

Guest Contributors And Submissions
If you pitch or submit a guest post, sponsored post, or any other contribution to SmartHouseGears, we collect the personal data you provide. This typically includes your name, email address, short biography, optional headshot, optional social profile links, and the content you submit.
We use this information to evaluate the pitch, communicate with you about edits and publication, attribute the published post to you, and respond to follow-up questions from readers. For sponsored contributions, we also keep a record of the commercial arrangement and any disclosures required by FTC and ASCI guidelines.
The lawful basis for processing is your consent when you reach out, and the performance of a contract once we agree to publish. We retain this data for as long as the post is live on the site. You can ask us to anonymise your byline to "Guest Contributor" and remove your personal data while keeping the article published, or to remove the article entirely where we agree there is a valid reason.
Pitched content that we do not publish is kept for up to 12 months in case the pitch is revived, then deleted. We do not treat submitted drafts as confidential, but we do not share them publicly before publication either. See our Write for Us page for the full contributor guidelines and our disclaimer and affiliate disclosure for the rules that apply to sponsored content.
