What it's actually like to live with
If someone asks us to recommend just one safe, no-regrets budget smartwatch for an Indian buyer who has never owned one before, the Noise ColorFit Pulse 3 is our answer.
At Rs 1,499-1,999, it costs less than most branded fitness bands while offering a full smartwatch experience with BT calling - that equation simply does not compute with any other product. We gave this watch to a 55-year-old uncle who had never used a smartwatch and he was making Jio calls from his wrist within 10 minutes of setup.
The 1.96-inch display is large enough that Hindi text notifications from WhatsApp and UPI alerts from PhonePe are readable without squinting, even for users who normally wear reading glasses. The auto sport detection feature proved surprisingly useful during testing in a Delhi park - the watch correctly identified when our tester started a brisk walk and began tracking automatically, eliminating the forgot-to-start-workout problem that plagues casual fitness users.
Battery life is the quiet hero here. Without calling, we got a genuine 9-10 days. With moderate calling of 3-4 short calls daily, it lasted 6-7 days. That means weekly charging, which is a routine even the most tech-averse user can maintain.
The IPS LCD panel is the one spec-sheet weakness - colors look washed out next to AMOLED competitors, and there are no true blacks. In practical terms, this matters less than you think unless you are comparing watches side by side. For everyday use - checking time, reading notifications, tracking steps, answering calls - the display is perfectly functional. Water resistance at IP67 handled rain, sweat, and handwashing during our monsoon-period testing, though we would keep it away from pools and submerged water.
The 170-plus watch faces offer enough variety to keep things fresh, and the Noise app ecosystem is the most mature in the Indian budget segment.
For gifting to parents, buying as a first smartwatch, or simply wanting the lowest-risk purchase from India's number one smartwatch brand, the Pulse 3 at under Rs 2,000 is the definition of smart spending.
