What it's actually like to live with
The Protium Wi-Fi strip hits a practical sweet spot for Indian smart home builders. The IP65 waterproof rating means you can run it along a balcony ceiling or near a bathroom mirror without worrying about monsoon humidity or splashes - a real concern during July and August in most Indian cities. The Smart Life and Tuya compatibility is strategically smart.
If you already have Tuya-based smart plugs, cameras, or sensors from various brands, the Protium strip slots right into your existing automations. Create routines like 'when the motion sensor detects movement after 10 PM, turn on the strip at 20% blue' without needing a dedicated hub. IFTTT integration opens up even more possibilities for advanced users. The music sync is functional if not as refined as Govee's algorithm.
Brightness is adequate for a 10x10 ft room but will not fill a large master bedroom the way the TP-Link or Philips strips can. The Wi-Fi setup process requires some patience - have your 2.4GHz network name and password ready, and make sure your phone is on the same network. Once connected, it is reliable. Solid value at Rs 2,000-3,000 for ecosystem builders.
