What it's actually like to live with
The Xiaomi S10 is the robot vacuum we recommend to friends and family who ask - what is the cheapest option that actually works well?
At Rs 18,999, it costs less than four months of domestic help in most Indian cities, and the laser navigation means it cleans in systematic straight lines instead of the random bumping pattern cheaper robots use. We tested it in a 950 sq ft Mumbai 1BHK with marble flooring throughout, and it handled daily dust accumulation perfectly on a single charge with about 40 minutes of battery to spare.
The Xiaomi Home app is a major advantage if you already own Mi devices - you can trigger cleaning from the same app that controls your air purifier and smart bulbs. The multi-floor map memory is handy for duplex apartments or homes with a loft. Now for the honest part - at 4,000Pa suction, this is strictly a daily maintenance machine. It picks up fine dust, crumbs, and light debris on smooth Indian tiles and marble beautifully.
But heavy dust buildup after a weekend away, construction dust from nearby building work, or pet hair will leave it struggling. There is also no mopping function at all, so you still need to mop floors manually or hire help for wet cleaning. The 140-minute runtime caps practical coverage at around 1,200 sq ft, which rules out larger 3BHK apartments.
But here is the value equation that matters - at Rs 18,999, you are paying Rs 6,000 less than the Y1 PRO and Rs 9,000 less than the N20 PRO.
For a small apartment with light daily dust, spending more would be overkill. Practical tip - schedule it to run while you are at work so it finishes before you return home.
