What it's actually like to live with
The Philips WiZ Prime Neo is the smart downlight we recommend most often for Indian false ceilings, and for good reason. The 90-plus CRI means colours look accurate and natural - your food looks appetizing under kitchen lighting, skin tones look healthy, and fabric colours match what you see in daylight.
This matters more than people realize until they compare it side by side with a cheap downlight. SpaceSense is genuinely clever - it uses WiFi signals to detect when someone enters or leaves a room, turning lights on and off without any additional sensors. The flicker-free dimming works smoothly from 100% down to 10%, which covers most use cases. The 10% minimum is the one frustration - you cannot dim it to near-darkness for bedroom movie watching.
At Rs 2,500-3,500 per unit, it is not cheap when you need 8-12 for a full apartment, but Philips reliability means you are unlikely to deal with replacement hassles. Indian voltage fluctuations are handled well, with no visible flickering during the minor surges common in most cities.
For everyday living, cooking, and reading, this is the benchmark.
