Our Verdict

At Rs 899-999, the Tapo L530B delivers 806 lumens, 16 million colors, tunable white 2500K-6500K, and the best smart bulb app in the market. The 4.5-star rating from 15,600 reviews is overwhelmingly validated.

Power-cut memory and Energy Class A+ certification add practical value. The E27 base needs a Rs 50-100 adapter for Indian B22 sockets, and pricing is slightly above the cheapest options. No hub required - connects directly to your WiFi router.

Best For

Google Home and Alexa users in 2-3 BHK apartments who want reliable smart lighting with the best app experience, power-cut resilience, and 16 million color options.

Watch Outs

Users who want direct B22 socket compatibility without adapters, or those on a strict sub-Rs 500 budget who should consider the Wipro NS9200 instead.

Editor's Take

What it's actually like to live with

The Tapo L530B has earned its position as the best-selling smart bulb in India for good reason. The Tapo app is genuinely the smoothest smart lighting app we have used - setup takes under two minutes, schedules work reliably, and the interface is intuitive enough that non-tech family members can figure it out. The power-cut memory feature is not a gimmick in India - it means your hallway light comes back on automatically after a power cut at 2 AM instead of leaving you fumbling in the dark.

The 806 lumens output is bright enough for a 120 sq ft bedroom as the sole light source. Color accuracy across the 16 million options is impressive, with warm whites looking natural rather than yellowish. The one annoyance is the E27 base requiring a B22 adapter for standard Indian sockets - TP-Link should really offer a B22 variant for the Indian market.

At Rs 899-999, it is not the cheapest option, but the reliability and app quality justify every rupee over budget alternatives that frustrate you with connectivity drops.
