Editor's take
The Fitbit Charge 6 review is all about compromise. It is the best slim band here, and it works without Fitbit Premium for core tracking. But it also lives inside an app that clearly wants some users to subscribe.
That does not make it a bad buy. Many people want a lightweight tracker, not a smartwatch. Charge 6 is easy to sleep with, simple to wear under sleeves, and familiar to buyers who have used Fitbit for years.
The hardware is stronger than old step counters. Built-in GPS, ECG support where available, heart-rate tracking, sleep score, Google Wallet, Google Maps, and exercise modes make it useful for daily wellness and light workouts.
The free tier is enough for many buyers, but Garmin gives you more. If you want long-term training history, deeper recovery context, and less paid-app pressure, the vivoactive 6 is the better move.
The Charge 6 stays on the list because form factor matters. A tracker you actually wear all day and night is better than a more powerful watch you leave on the nightstand.
Buy it for simplicity and comfort. Do not buy it expecting the most complete subscription-free fitness platform.
